Friends of Kenninghall Primary School Committee Meeting

  1. Recent & Upcoming Events 

Cake Stall. 

The total profit made from the cake stall was £133. 

Chocolate cakes of all sorts were the most popular, especially the tiffin and brownies. 

Children, parent & staff expressed how much they enjoyed and asked that we do them more often.  

We received a good amount of donations, from friends, parent, carers and members of the community. 

 

Easter Egg Trail/Cake Celebration 

To be held on the 31st March 2023 (last day before the half term easter break) 

Mr Ambrose has confirmed that the children will do a mini spring concert in the playground from 3pm. KB said that at east harling the school run this as a ‘busking’ event and could we do the same. 

ACTION POINT – GW to speak with Mr Ambrose.  

The Friends will run a tea and cake stall, with tea, coffee and hot chocolate as well as cakes and easter treats.  

An Easter egg trail to be set up on the school playing field with a suggested donation of £1. Siblings may also partake in the activity.  

Set up to be from 1.30/2pm onwards.  

 

ACTION POINTS – GW to liaise with Waitrose & Tesco reference donations 

JB to liaise with Sainsburys & Kinnerton reference donations 

CH to liaise with Morrisons & K/hall shop reference donations 

Volunteers to confirm their availability and timings 

Parentmail to be sent asking for donations  

  

Science Week 

CS confirmed that there is £250 budget available for the school to spend on recourses for science week for activities for the children. 

Put to vote that the money can be spent for this – voted YES - HW, NT, RW, CS, GW, CH, JB, FS, CM, KS & KB.  

ACTION POINT – GW to liaise with Mr Ambrose to discuss their requirements and what level of volunteers/setup would be requested.  

 

Quiz 

Date confirmed to be held on 24th March 2023, in the school hall.  

Tickets priced at £5 per person, max 6 persons in a team. Entry price includes snacks. (nut free) 

Advertise as a Quiz & Chips night, chips with toppings to be served at the interval. £1/£2 per pot of chips.  

Bar to be provided – no bring your own drinks.  

Mr Ambrose to host the quiz. 

Raffle to be held in the interval, tickets to be sold on the night only.  

 

ACTION POINTS – CH to arrange TENS licence for the bar 

     Poster to be designed and advertised 

     NT to set up on website with ticket option plus chance to pre order chips 

     Drinks & Snacks to be purchased 

     Volunteers to be confirmed 

 

Art day with Stephany Baker-Bowles 

Stephany will host a collapsed curriculum day in the school for all children to coincide with national art week, commencing 1st week of June.  

GW advised this would be costed at approximately £200 for the day. CS confirmed that there were funds to allow for this.  

Put to vote that the money can be spent for this – voted YES – HW, NT, RW, CS, GW, CH, JB, CM, KS (FS & KB left meeting early) 

The Kenninghall scene is in production for the tea towels, all profits made from these will be kindly donated to the Friends.  

 

 

2.   Confirmation of dates for future events – post Easter Break  

 

The Kings Coronation 

No grants are available – look to liaise with the village and parish council to involve as a community. 

 

The English Whiskey Distillery Tour 

HW advised that the English Whiskey Distillery have offered to do a tour of the distillery with 3 samples for each recipient at the end. HW confirmed that there will be NO costs involved to the Friends and the cost of all ticket prices will be kindly donated to the Friends (huge thanks were extended to Harriet and Chris).  

HW suggested the ticket price should be £15 per ticket with 20 tickets to start with in the beginning. It will be a private tour, hosted by head distiller, Chris.  

A proposed date was put forward of 19th May 2023. 

ACTION POINT – HW to confirm is this date is OK with Chris.  

 

Annual School Fete 

To be held Saturday 8th July 2023. 

Volunteers confirmed – CM +1, RW + 2, JB, GW + 1, NT & HT, CS, CH, KS 

Need a minimum of 20 volunteers.  

Bar, tea/coffee plus soft drinks. 

Snacks  

Ice Cream Station 

First Aider 

ACTION POINT – ALL AND ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS TO CONFIRM ASAP 

 

Annual Leavers BBQ 

To be held 20th July 2023 

Volunteers to be confirmed 

BBQ, hot and cold drinks 

Ice creams? 

Leavers hoodies plus goody bags to be discussed at next meeting 

ACTION POINT – VOLUNTEERS TO CONFIRM ASAP.  

(CS & TODD WILL NOT BE VOLUNTEERING ON THE DAY, AS THEIR SON IS A LEAVER THIS YEAR.) 

 

Annual Fireworks 

CH has liaised with Jimmy Gooderham reference a field.  

CS confirmed that Todd will set off the fireworks and be fire warden 

It was agreed that the community event was amazing the previous year and should be continued for this year 

ACTION POINT – VOLUNTEERS TO CONFIRM ASAP.  

 

3.  A.O.B 

Lego Club 

NT requested that a rota be in place in advance for the volunteers so as they know wheat afternoons they are requested to help with and allow time for cover where required. It was agreed that this would be beneficial and to be looked at. 

 

Raised Beds Follow Up 

We are waiting for grants applications to come through to enable us to hire a mini digger and driver, we cannot move forward until we have this. CM advised that she may have a contact. 

ACTION POINT – CM TO ADVISE ASAP WHETHER WE HAVE ACCESS TO A DIGGER AND DRIVER. CH REMINDED THAT ALL INSURANCES MUST BE IN-PLACE INCLUDING PUBLIC LIABILITY AND PROOF NEEDS TO BE SHOWN.
